Mar 25,  · Okay, this is wilful on the part of Magnetic Fields' mainman Stephin Merritt and myself. On his part because here the wunderkind of US pop-rock saturates everything in feedback and distortion (hence the album title) -- and on my part because this album won't be easy to find in New Zealand (if you wanted to, that is). But I include it here largely to point to the Essential Elsewhere album.

Four years after i, here's another conceptual Magnetic Fields record. The concept this time around, largely drawn from the Jesus and Mary Chain's Psychocandy LP, is that every instrument produces a noisy and distorted sound - even the piano here is distorted, by first feeding it into an amp and then cranking up the distortion wilraladimarvelt.weadisnimisdiafidetilisundrecon.infoinfo's a pretty cool sound I'll admit, and I'd argue the songs /5(K).

The band's eighth album and second Nonesuch release is a follow-up to 's critically acclaimed i, an album that's songs all began with the letter "i," and that's sound Magnetic Fields songwriter and frontman Stephin Merritt has referred to as "self-conciously soft rock."Distortion is both a departure from and a response to i: an album of three-minute power-pop songs, composed and produced.

Every track on the album is bathed in reverb, feedback, and distortion. The idea is not as weird as it sounds. In a way, it is a throwback to the early days of the Magnetic Fields/5(29).

till the bitter end and all the bitter moments till then Through time and tomb, and Tim and Tom Through pro and con, and quid pro quo, and qualm Through tidal wave and asteroid and bomb darling, I will love you till the bitter end and all the bitter moments till then And when your charms begin to fade and when you feel old and afraid I'll.
